This hormone provides the body with energy to cope up with the stress and also, to work properly. But, if you remain in that state of mind, your body will not stop releasing cortisol and this will result in failure to consume insulin. As a result, not only your metabolism would be ruined, but also you will start gaining weight.

What can be done:

You need to take a break off your routine or go to a therapist if it does not make any change. Eating healthy, doing exercise, and doing something you love might help in this regard.

Hormones control various functions of our body and a change in their activity can result in affecting the metabolism of your body and thus not meeting the energy requirements of the body. There are certain health conditions where hormones are overactive or underactive such as thyroid. In these conditions, metabolism gets affected. Depression or stress is also related to releasing certain hormones that affect or slow down your metabolism.

Hormonal conditions should be treated at once and if the treatment is already going on, it should not be neglected. You also need to be careful about your mental health and any unnecessary stress should be avoided.
